Got a touchscreen phone or plan to buy one in the near future? Perhaps you’re even reading this bingo blog on your iPhone? There is no doubt, touch screen technology has revolutionised the way we interact with one another and the games that we play. I would go so far as to say, that it has made gaming and communication much more hands-on and enjoyable. Touch screens are clearly the future of technology, from the iPhone to the iPad, we now have full size, touch screen PCs. Make no mistake, keys and buttons are becoming a thing of the past, with good reason, for there are plenty of gambling games out there that benefit hugely by going down the touch screen route. If you play online poker you’re probably familiar with the expression “Black Friday”, the day on which the three biggest websites in the gambling industry, Poker Stars, Full Tilt & Absolute Poker/Ultimate Bet got done by the US DOJ (Department of Justice), for money laundering and bank fraud. Since that fateful day on April 15 2011, thousands of poker players in the States have had their gaming accounts frozen and $500m in player deposits has evaporated into thin air. US players can no longer access their funds let alone play a decent hand of poker, so much for providing a reliable, honest service… Read more…
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to own your own slot machine? Apparently Elvis had a collection of slots and pinball machines in Graceland, which he would spend hours each day playing on. In the Fifties, anyone who wanted to play slots would have to head down to the local casino or arcade, slot in a quarter and have a spin. However Elvis had other ideas, he brought the amusement arcade to his own home and created Graceland, the ultimate symbol of decadence. Yet there were also practical reasons why he couldn’t go to the local arcade; online slots didn’t exist and it would have been impossible to have a quiet game without being recognized and chased down the street by a gaggle of screaming girls… poor guy! He literally couldn’t go anywhere without a crowd following him. Read more…
I was reading a bingo blog on which an angry poster denounced gambling as a sin against God and humanity. Heavy stuff for a Sunday night.
They might have had an arguable point if they hadn’t chosen to post it on an online bingo site; bingo, as we all know, is pretty much the game of choice when it comes to church fundraisers.
I thought it was interesting, though, because if you look at gambling it is defined as ‘playing games of chance for money’. According to this definition, bingo is a form of gambling. But then what about free online bingo games? Read more…
What does the casino online offer you that you can’t find in the land based casino? Many people have asked me this question, as they genuinely don’t know about the generous bonuses and astronomical jackpots you can enjoy at an online casino.
The first reason why you should forget the brink n’ mortar casino, is that at a casino online you can win a much larger pot. In most offline casinos the tables are limited and you are forced to play within a maximum bet range. In an online casino you can enjoy no limit bets and make off with a far greater jackpot than you could ever hope to make on the high street. Read more…
Just like men, so many online casino sites lose interest after the chase.
I’ve spotted an oddity in the course of writing this gambling blog. Reviewing hundreds of online casinos of course necessitates signing up to a good deal of them and I’m often impressed by some of the bonus offers the best online casino sites give to new players. 100% first deposit match up to £2,000! 100 free spins! A scratchcard giving you a chance to win £200,000! Wowser!
The things they’ll give you are nothing short of amazing. But strangely enough, once you’ve joined them the love suddenly fades, and you hear from your casino sporadically, rather like a lover who never calls but occasionally sends drunken texts on a Friday night wondering where you are because they want to ‘hang out’. I’ve heard recently that there are some tasty bingo prizes coming up and I thought I’d give you a heads up on what’s out there. Forget the standard jackpot prizes, I’m talking about free cars, holidays in the Caribbean, free iPads and a host of other brilliant gifts up for grabs.
I’m quite intrigued by what kinds of prizes get people’s juices flowing when they play online bingo. Personally, the offer of a free holiday is the most appealing for me. The reason for this is that if you win a holiday you can take time off work and no one can complain! Come on, how many times have you sat at your computer playing bingo and wished you were on a white beach with crystal clear waters lapping your feet, feeling the sunshine on your face. Read more…
I’ve been having this recurring nightmare lately.
In it, I’m in an online casino using up my free slot spins, just like that kid from Norway who won the biggest online progressive jackpot ever, and I’m having a great time watching the reels spin because it’s a 3D video slot machine and it’s my dream and it has great graphics (probably of food, knowing me).
So I’m playing online slots, and I’ve just won a bit of cash when all of a sudden it happens. The bells and alarms go off, the screen flashes, and I’ve won. I’ve won!!! But the mindless fog of happiness barely has time to rise before I realise, to my horror, that my computer has frozen. I press a couple of keys. Nothing. I try to take a screenshot but it doesn’t work. I have a small tantrum but what can you possibly do except cry and hyperventilate and – WAKE. UP. Read more…
What is more appealing than winning? For a gambler few things really, not much can match the buzz of uncertainty, the fear of losing surpassed by the rush of winning. Few would argue that winning was the most important factor in gambling but equally important is what you win.
Online Bingo sites are continually coming up with bizarre and exciting new prizes to attract players to their sites. Whether it’s iPads, Mp3 players, new cars, or holidays in the Caribbean, there is clearly a market for alternative prizes. The online bingo world is unique in that its players are not just after cold, hard currency; can you imagine going to a betting shop and betting on a horse so you win an iPad. The whole bingo concept is lottery based and in the past was created as a game for children, hence the ideas of giving away prizes comes naturally. Read more…
If you’re new to online bingo, don’t fret – all of us were newbies at one point!
If you’re reading this bingo blog because you’re not sure how to play, or you do play bingo and you’d like to know how it differs to online bingo, here are the rules of play for the most common games – 90 ball and 75 ball bingo:
A 90 ball bingo card is 9 x 3 squares with five numbers in a row and is almost always played in strips of six tickets so the numbers 1-10 can be found vertically. The bingo caller draws random numbers and you tick them off as you go. The aim is to cover one line, two lines or a full card. In online bingo, the ‘autodauber’ function can be used to automatically cross off numbers so you never miss!
75 ball bingo is a similar concept except the card is 5 x 5 squares and the aim is to make a variety of patterns like corners, a cross, a T-section etc.
Every bingo site has a chat section in which you can talk to other players, share tips, trivia or just socialise. Read more…
If you want to start playing at an online casino, or if you already play at one and perhaps you want to try another site, there are a few things that you should be looking for. Let’s face it, there’s no such thing as the best online casino, unless they create a casino where you always win and can’t lose! Everyones experience will be subjective and what works for you might not work for the next person. So make sure you don’t get too caught up in the glamorous images and big bonuses most sites use to lure you in. Read more…
With temperatures teetering on the brink of a giant cliff and set to take a dive by the end of the week, autumn is a great time to get acquainted with an online casino.
Every year, autumn heralds the return of coats, umbrellas and heavy-duty wellies. Mornings grow frosty. Evenings take on a distinct chill. What was formerly a simple decision regarding whether or not to meet friends at the pub on the corner for a drink now becomes an arduous trek involving slippery pavements and the possibility of getting your eye poked out by a roving brolly. We quietly shiver at the thought of winter and long for the days of summer and spring. Read more…
I’ve just been having a spin on a few free slots to get myself warmed up for the day. I find slots get me prepped and in the mood for a serious bout of gambling, almost like an hor d’oeuvre before the main course, providing a tasty snack before the real meat of online poker! Recently however I’ve been comparing the different styles of online casino slot, to see if I could find anything that could provide a deeper level of engagement. I’m the kind of gambler who likes to have a degree of control over the outcome of events, bearing this in mind, I had a look to see if I could find anything suitable. Read more…
If you’re looking for a lazy Sunday morning activity, what’s better than a scratchcard?
If you’re reading this gambling blog , chances are you’re thinking about trying your luck this morning anyway. Sunday is the day of rest, the final day before we all have to go back to the daily grind on Monday and as such we all want to make best use of it.
If you’re anything like me, pyjamas are the default outfit of choice until at least noon on a Sunday. Since it’s not quite cold enough for flannels yet, odds are you’re in your favourite jersey/modal number that’s comfortable enough to make you think you’d like to move in and spend your whole life in them. And the best thing about playing a scratchcard online is that you don’t have to bother with getting changed and going outside – it’s fun that’s only a click away.
It looks like it could be curtains for Full Tilt, as the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) have just revoked their licence. Based in the Channel Island of Alderney, Full Tilt is rumoured to have swindled thousands of online poker players out of their deposits and winnings. The DOJ (Deparment of Justice) has claimed Full Tilt “defrauded players by misrepresenting that their funds on deposit in online gambling accounts were safe, secure and available for withdrawal at any time.” Clearly this was not the case. Strangely enough some players accounts weren’t even debited, winning healthy jackpots as if they were playing free poker.
The US has accused Full Tilt, one of the largest and most popular online poker sites, of operating a “global Ponzi scheme”. According to the DOJ, “the company used player funds to pay board members and other owners more than $440m since April 2007”.
