I was recently reading an article about Macau – the largest gambling capital in the known universe and I was struck when I discovered what the Chinese players casino game of choice was.
I mean here in the West, out of all the casino games available, Texas Hold âem undoubtedly takes the crown, however in the Far East, thereâs another Daddy to be reckoned with. In the third quarter of last year, this game was responsible for over 90% of Macauâs revenue. When you have amn income as big as Macauâs itâs pretty impressive that one casino game is responsible for almost all of it.
Out of all the casino games you could think of itâs probably the most random, and no, before you leap to any assumptions, itâs not even a Chinese game such as Mah Jong. Itâs actually a European game, the likes of which have faded out of popularity in Western casinos. Read more…

A friend of mine asked me the other day, âIf I love to play at online casinos does that make me addicted to gambling?â Personally I donâtâ think so, the problem lies with the way gambling is viewed by society. We are made to feel guilty about indulging our pleasures and taking a chance because the government want us to spend our money on taxable items. The fact is most online casinos are based in offshore tax havens, such as Gibraltar and Malta and thatâs not going to put the casinos in the governmentâs good books.
The issue we really need to address is peopleâs attitudes to gambling. The majority of the population play the National Lottery, but because it is state franchised in the UK, (John Major set it up in the Nineties) it is pushed as a healthy and acceptable thing to play. In essence this is pure hypocrisy. In reality there is no difference between playing casino games and buying lottery tickets and we should not be made to feel guilty about our favourite past times because the government are not generating as much revenue as theyâd like to by it. After releasing a casino called 32Vegas, the online casino games giant was taken to court by 32Red for infringement of the â32Redâ and â32â trademarks. 32Red has built its brand around the number, offering a ÂŁ32 casino bonus also styling themselves as Red32. The trial took place in October 2010, and the High Court found in favour of 32Red. Read more…

We can all admit to reading at least a few online casino reviews in our time. The amount of sites out there means that the best players still need to depend on others for information and opinion. One of the sites that have caught my eye – and my registration – is Winner casino. They use Playtech software, one of the leaders in software and gaming solutions for online casinos.
The Winner casino provides its players with a comprehensive range of casino games, with new ones being released at regular intervals; like The Wheel of Light. The site definitely looks the business, with a professional layout that gives players the assurance that they are playing at the best online site.
New players will be pleased to find out that the site offers a Welcome Bonus of 100% of up to $300 on the First Deposit. But for players who are serious about playing casino games, there is a High Roller Bonus of 150% of up to $2000 on the First Deposit. If youâve used an iPad 2, youâll know just how fun they can be to play with, but it can be hard to figure out just exactly what you can use one for. Sure you can browse the web on it, check your email and read the Guardian with a flick of the wrist, but if you really want to get the most out of one, I recommend downloading a compatible online casino and seeing for yourself what a massive difference it makes.
To be honest, initially I was a little sceptical about the whole iPad obsession, but then my friend thrust one into my hand with a live game of Texas Hold âem on the go and told me to play. That was it, I was hooked. The controls were just so intuitive and responsive as my fingers skated across the screen, raising, checking and folding. The other online casino games I tried as a result, were just as good, if not even better! Roulette was just a dream, I couldnât believe how fun it was, watching the wheel spin beneath my nose and tapping the screen to place my bet. However it really got impressive, when I explored the slots section of the online casino and started playing Immortal Romance Slots. As I tapped spin and watched the reels blur, the graphics exploded out of the screen and the cash started rolling in. It was almost like the iPad was bringing me luck! Read more…
A recent report by audit firm Deloitte has found that more than 40% of British people would migrate to unregulated online casino sites if the proposed internet gambling tax goes through.
Commissioned by William Hill online casino, the report says that 27% of revenues would move to the unregulated market if the government levies a 10% tax, with that figure rising to 40% if the tax is at 15%. Since the objective of introducing the tax is ostensibly to protect consumers, it seems the proposed tax is counterproductive at best. In addition, a number of online casino reviews have indicated that companies themselves would exit the market if a tax was introduced. Most casinos currently avoid the UKâs hefty tax of 15% by locating their operations offshore. Read more…

In the gaming world today we can find a huge amount of content to do with casino games. Nearly all casino sites provide some sort of description and/or review of their games; but unfortunately, it doesnât provide a truly unbiased opinion. Sites with online casino reviews have become the only way of gaining a true perception of the games. These sites, if managed correctly, provide an invaluable service to us all – both operators and punters.
From an operatorsâs perspective; it gives them invaluable customer feedback on what works, and more importantly, what doesnât. Read more…
This gambling blog has documented several times where Facebook has made online casino news. Following earlier controversy in which complaints were made against the Facebook-based DoubleDownCasino, which allowed players to purchase credits without the possibility of paying out any of the âwinningsâ, it appears the social media giant is now considering whether or not it should allow members to play online casino games for real money within its site.
The latest development has come on the heels of Facebook allowing online casinos to advertise on its pages. Facebook is examining new ways of building revenue and is consulting a number of gambling industry experts as well as online casino companies to discuss the opportunities that opening this revenue stream would present. If successful, it opens up a huge audience capable of being targeted by demographics, hobbies and preferences. Read more…
If youâre an online operator, you might have overlooked Georgia as a potential market in which to bring your casino online. But somewhat surprisingly, the online casino market is experiencing an incredible boom in this country, with pundits noting the increasing demand â and subsequent supply gap â for online casino games including poker, the most popular of all the games in Georgia.
Gambling blog sites have attributed the boom to the number of internet users, which is increasing proportionately to access across the country. Other pundits have acknowledged this as a primary stimulus but also noted that Georgians have a competitive culture that encourages risk-taking, perfect for activities like online casino games; the âexcitable and eruditeâ culture has been cited as the reason for pokerâs popularity. The current crop of eighteen year olds seem to have discovered gambling and have added to the older audience of gamblers, creating a thriving market with huge demand. Read more…
Playing at a casino online could soon become a lot more common, according to a recent report released by Pricewaterhouse Coopers entitled âGlobal Gaming Outlook: The casino and online gaming market to 2015â. The report estimates that online gaming revenues will reach $183bn by 2015, driven in large part by dramatic growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
Indulging in games at a casino online in China is currently only permissible in Macau, where gambling is legal. The administrative region is home to some of the worldâs largest casinos and its revenues are larger that the gambling state of Nevada. The Asian market is forecast to more than double from $34.3bn in 2010 to $79.3bn in 2015, evidence of the regionâs growing economic prosperity and an affinity for gambling. Read more…
What is the incentive of playing at online casinos other than the money? Well funnily enough it is a factor that is overlooked more often than not and best of all itâs entirely free… can you guess what it is yet? Risk. Gambling is all about risk, about taking a chance and hoping it pulls off.
Read a gambling blog this morning and it seems that over the pond, two Maryland officers are in a spot of hot water for their night jobs â so to speak.
Apparently working on the vice squad doesnât pay a whole lot, so Capt. Randy Jones and Lt. Robert Adams decided to take work as security guards for The Cordish Cos., which will operate Marylandâs largest casino. Whilst it certainly appears to be a conflict of interest to regulate gambling and work (in a roundabout fashion) for a gambling company, it certainly makes you wonder just how much you would give up for your job.
Writing a gambling blog means I can play casino games whenever I like â in fact, itâs somewhat of a prerequisite. But if I worked for an online casino regulatory authority, would I be allowed to play my favourite games? Would I even be allowed to step into a brick-and-mortar casino and go for a quick spin on the slots? Read more…
Online casino games are for many people an entertaining past time which promises the possibility of winning untold fortunes. For others they are a way of life, a full time occupation which pays the rent and bills each month. So what is it that inspires a player to make the leap from casual player to High Roller?
Anyone whose played at an online casino will know that winning can be totally arbitrary. One person who hardly ever plays may log on and suddenly win a land slide jackpot on a Progressive slot, while another player could be playing regularly for months and only be breaking even. Unlike poker where the more you play, the better you become, when you play online casino games, the same strategy cannot be applied. The incentive to play regularly for much higher stakes derives more from our individual desire for larger risks and bigger gains. True, the more you play, the more confident youâll become, especially with table games, where skill does have a large factor to play, yet playing for small stakes can be frustrating because the amount you win can be so minimal it doesnât justify playing in the first place. Perhaps if you want to make more of a difference you should consider playing with more at stake. Read more…

Iâve just been having a spin on a few free slots to get myself warmed up for the day. I find slots get me prepped and in the mood for a serious bout of gambling, almost like an hor dâoeuvre before the main course, providing a tasty snack before the real meat of online poker! Recently however Iâve been comparing the different styles of online casino slot, to see if I could find anything that could provide a deeper level of engagement. Iâm the kind of gambler who likes to have a degree of control over the outcome of events, bearing this in mind, I had a look to see if I could find anything suitable.
