England Manager Wanted: Please Do Not Apply

After the sudden resignation of Fabio Capello, the FA will now have the difficult (if not impossible) task of finding a suitable successor. Online betting for the Next England Manager at PaddyPower has Harry Redknapp as firm favorite priced up at 2/7. I have to admit that, in this case, the bookmakers got it wrong. There is no doubt in my mind that Harry will not take the job.

Harry is settled at Spurs and is now beginning to reap the rewards of building a great squad. He has already stated that he is totally focused on Tottenham and has not even thought about England. I know that he has always fancied the role, and Harry has said on numerous occasions that it was the one role every English manager would cherish. But the job as it stands today is a poisoned chalice. Any sports betting punter will admit that anyone accepting the challenge is doomed to unending pressure, criticism, false hope, and disappointment.

Man City at Villa Park With or Without McLeish

Manchester City visit Villa Park this afternoon in a cloud of discontent between Aston Villa fans and Alex McLeish. The Villa supporters have been voicing their concern over the current form of six wins in twenty four Premier League matches and rumors of players rebelling after the 2-1 defeat at Newcastle. SkyBet betting on the game has a Villa home win at 7/2, with Man City favorites at 8/11.

The way events seem to be transpiring, it is probably a good price for the Manchester City away win. All this unrest from the supporters and players, together with the Manager not being able to inspire either one of them, is not the perfect preparation for a meeting with a team at the top of the table. I have placed a 20 bet online with SkyBet, under the Both Players To Score section, Robbie Keane and Sergio Aguero to score at 15/2. I quite fancy Robbie to score, as he has been on form during his LA Galaxy break.

Going back to the fans unhappiness, I can understand their disappointment. Alex has had a full pre-season with the players and was allowed to spend 20 million. Also, it is not to say the squad does not have talent, with the likes of Darren Bent, Agbonlahor and Ireland available every game. It is very hard for any set of supporters, when their team has not had a home win for more than three months. And I am betting that this Sunday wont see them ending that record.

The bet online at SkyBet for Villa being relegated is 16/1 and for me they wont be one of the teams that have to be concerned about staying up in the Premier League. However, I have feeling that we will see more reaction to Villas poor performance in betting blog sites, especially if they suffer a heavy defeat.

Can Cisse Shine at White Hart Lane?

This evening has Newcastle United in London playing Tottenham Hot Spurs at White Hart Lane. This promises to be a battle, with both clubs in the hunt for a chance to play in Europe next season. A win for Spurs will help cement their standing and keep the running for second place, if Manchester United falter. And a Newcastle win will mean they keep their hopes alive of a fourth place finish. Bet365 has priced up Spurs as odds on favorites at 4/9, with only one loss at home and Newcastle is 13/2 for win, as their away form has been poor.

Fabio Falling Foul of the FA

I sometimes wonder whether Fabio Capello has any idea of what he is doing. It would seem totally obvious to any other person to shut up and leave the matter of John Terry and his loss of the England captaincy well alone. Especially, in light of how the FA has given notice of the stripping the armband from JT, and the public feelings on the matter both within the sport and outside. At the rate, this saga is developing, I would not be surprised to see online betting for Fabio leaving the job on the increase and prices being shortened.
